ABOUT THE MUSIC

Giuseppe TARTINI Trumpet Concert in D major

A violin virtuoso of the Baroque era, Tartini originally wrote this piece for violin. Trumpet players looking to show off their abilities and expand their repertoire later made it more well-known in this arrangement.

George GERSHWIN Rhapsody in Blue, arr. Timofei Dokshizer for Trumpet and Piano

Gershwin shows off his signature combination of Jazz and Classical in this classic of 20th century American music. Arranged by trumpet player Timofei Dokshizer for solo trumpet and piano, this version is a tour de force of virtuosity for both musicians while keeping all of the riotous fun of the original.

Camille SAINT-SAËNS Septet, op. 65

A neglected masterpiece and perhaps the only piece ever written for this unusual combination of instruments (piano, string quartet, double bass, and trumpet), french composer Camille Saint-Saëns blends traditional classical forms with the virtuosity and emotional intensity of his own Romantic era into a piece that has delighted audiences since its premiere.

And with original compositions by Nicholas Denton Protsack, Elliot Vaughan, and Briar Prastiti.
