CONCERT I
Sublime Schubert
The 5th edition of ClassicalValley kicks off with a celebratory concert featuring Schubert’s Cello Quintet in the intimate setting of Tantalus Vineyards.
Schubert’s great Cello Quintet – so named because of the addition of a second cello to the standard string quartet – is an extraordinary piece of music. It captures the sublime in a way only Schubert could, with his music’s singing melodies, bubbling textures, and “heavenly length” (the quintet is almost an hour long - a true musical journey!).
After Schubert, stay with us for a celebratory reception with light charcuterie in the company of our artists, as the cellists switch out Schubert for the chill vibes of Bossa Nova.
Tantalus has remained one of ClassicalValley’s favourite venues. We love the “up close and personal” experience of performing in their tasting room, not to mention their delicious wines and the stunning views of the Valley at sunset.
Wine Pairing: A complimentary glass of Tantalus’ Signature Series wine is included with every ticket.

The Venue
Tantalus Vineyards
1670 DeHart Rd, Kelowna, BC V1W 4N6
Situated on the eastern slopes of the Okanagan Valley, overlooking the shores of Lake Okanagan and the City of Kelowna, Tantalus was first planted to table grapes in 1927 and today is known as one of the oldest continuously producing vineyards in British Columbia.
Tantalus’ inaugural 2005 vintage immediately attracted the attention of national and international wine critics and Tantalus was quickly added to a short list of Canada’s very best Riesling producers. Today, in addition to Riesling, Tantalus is also recognized for consistently producing high quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
With its spectacular lake views, historic old vineyard and new state-of-the-art LEED winery, visiting Tantalus is a one-of-a-kind experience.
